Prevailing “User Interface” design principles are, by definition, intensely focused on the user. Designers are unrelenting in their commitment to maintain simplicity and elegance—even as data and code get complicated. Without realizing what was happening, these principles rebaselined our expectations for desirability in consumer electronics.
